In November 2009, as Obama then signed an extension to Unemployment Benefits, he said, “I would also like to announce I just signed into law a bill that will help grow our economy, save and create new jobs and provide relief to struggling families and businesses,”
Obama said then. “Now, it’s important to note that the bill I signed will not add to our deficit. It is fully paid for, and so it is fiscally responsible.”
Now, in July 2010, Obama chides Republicans as cynical for wanting to see that this bill ‘will not add to our deficit’ and ‘is fully paid for’ and is ‘fiscally responsible’
This refusal to pass an unpaid insurance bill “reflects a lack of faith in the American people,” according to Obama.
In November 2009, being fiscally responsible is worthy of braggadocio. In July 2010, the same principle is condemned and panned. Conversely, his actions, now fiscally irresponsible, are worthy of his two-faced praise.
