In Illinois, there is a coal mine just inside Perry County. The mine loads and dispatches trucks to take the coal to a Mississippi river dock in Randolph county. Hundreds of trips per day are made between the coal mine and the river dock.Over the years, the roads have been worn tremendously with ruts and bumps so bad, you can barely walk across the street in Steeleville sober… …forget about it when you’ve had a few.
In this analogy, Net Neutrality says that you can’t charge the trucker any more than the Prius for the road usage. The Prius pays as much for the road as the trucker. The Prius owner obviously thinks he’s getting punked.
Undoing Net Neutrality allows the Free Market to charge more for the truckers, since the wear and tear they cause to the roads is much greater.
Now, apply that to the Internet. Pornography makes up 30% of the Internet traffic, and Netflix, and YouTube use a large share.
Net Neutrality forces you to pay the same amount to the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) as the bandwidth-hogging Porn, YouTube, and Netflix. And, what about Google and Amazon?!
Free Market lets the ISPs charge the Porn shippers and deliverers, as well as the other hogs, a higher rate than grandma gets charged when she tries to buy groceries from her local Schnucks.
If the ISP charges grandma too much, she goes somewhere else… …like Hughes Net, Charter, AT&T, Comcast, CenturyLink, Consolidated Communications, Digital West, Frontier, TDS Telecom, Verizon, Windstream… …etc. Oh, and Exede, Cox, Sprint, Dish, Cable ONE, etc.
