Occupy Mingo

A group of 20 Missouri Patriots attended an Occupy Mingo event today at 1:30pm at the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge near Puxico, MO.  I was proud to be among them.  The event was quickly put together by various folks from several groups — including Cape County Tea Party and SEMO10 — although it was not officially sponsored.

Occupy Mingo - 20131006 - 10

The event was intended to protest ObamaCare, the Federal Government Shutdown’s effect on our State lands, and the overreach of the Federal Government in general.

Below are two videos from the event and the Q&A from reporter Michelle Varvil.  She had recorded me at the event, but the traffic noise wiped out the brilliant points I had made on tape.  Sadly, my typed version will never match up to the stunning oratory that was lost this day.

The Interview:

How did you hear about the walk-in?

  • I was contacted by Chris Blattel of SEMO10.

Why was it important for you as an individual to take part in the walk-in at Mingo National Wildlife Refuge?

  • For me personally, I am working daily to save the republic that is the United States – a republic; not a democracy.  ObamaCare, the national debt, out-of-control government spending, massive regulations, waste, fraud and abuse all threaten our freedom and liberty… …and the republic.  It is important that all of us daily do something to save our republic and leave it healthy and debt-free for our future generations.  Anything less is the height of hypocrisy and selfishness.

What points were you hoping to make with your participation?

  • The progressive cancer that is the Federal Government is out-of-control.  It has extended its corrupt grip into every facet of our lives – Mingo National Wildlife Refuge being a prime example.
  • Faced with the devastation of our economy and freedom that is ObamaCare, the Republican-controlled U.S. House funded the Federal Government but chose not to fund ObamaCare.  The U.S. Senate, controlled by the Democrats refused to fund the Federal Government without ObamaCare.  The two Houses were at an impasse and the Federal Government shut down.
  • In his petulance, President Obama shut down all National Parks most famously the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.  Included in the shutdown were the Gateway Arch and the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge.  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure Missourians can run the Gateway Arch and Mingo National Wildlife Refuge without the help of the Barack Obama.
  • One point we are trying to make is that the U.S. House has done the right thing by refusing to fund ObamaCare.  Among other disastrous effects, ObamaCare:
    • Destroys the 40-hour work week with its 30-hour full-time rule forcing employers to reduce work hours or comply with bankrupting costs and regulations for insuring workers.
    • Fundamentally transforms the relationship between government and citizen by, for the first time in our republic, forcing citizens to engage in commerce as a condition of being alive
    • Doubles and even triples the cost of insurance for a family of 4
  • The second point was that President Obama is acting in and irresponsible, petty, authoritarian manner by threatening American Citizens with federal charges and jail time for using their own land.  This land does not belong to the President; it belongs to the people.

How do you feel about the way the walk-in was handled by the zone officer and wildlife officer that was present at the walk-in?

  • The officers were doing their jobs and quite professional about it.  Sadly, their management decided to hide behind technology and will ticket us for trespassing using photos of attendees and their license plates as well as facial recognition technology.

Some attending the walk-in chose not to cross the barricade. Could you provide a comment about why you chose to go ahead and take that step?

  • Had I not crossed the barricade, I would not have had engaged in civil disobedience.  While I didn’t want to fight the officers or spend the afternoon in jail, I was willing to accept the consequences of breaking what I believe to be an unconstitutional law based on an unconstitutional land-grab made by the Federal Government.

Why do you think the average citizen needs to be aware of and why is it important for them to get involved in things like the walk-in?

  • At every level, governments (local, state, federal) are taking more and more control and strangling the freedoms of citizens – the Federal Government being the worst offender.  American citizens believe they live in a free county, yet those freedoms are constantly being eroded – today’s example being the freedom to visit OUR local parks.  If citizens don’t get involved in saving our republic, we will find ourselves living under the same authoritarian rulers we threw off in the American Revolution.  There is still time to save the republic.

Hypocrisy Alert: Sears, Target, Walmart Sell N-Word

As various companies fall all over themselves to expunge Paula Deen for using THE word 25 years ago, a quick search of the movie libraries of three big department stores shows that they are quite are happy to make big money off the word ‘Nigger’.

Blazing Saddles, a great Mel Brooks / Gene Wilder comedy, uses the word multiple multiple multiple multiple times.  So, selling the movie (making money off THE word) in 2013 is just fine with Sears, Target, and Walmart.  But, Paula Deens saying THE word 25 years ago? …not so much.

.

Sears:

.

Blazing Saddles - 20130628 - Sears

.

Target:

.

Blazing Saddles - 20130628 - Target

 .

Walmart:

.

Blazing Saddles - 20130628 - Walmart.

Is it just me, or if retailers are going to engage in this level of political correctness, shouldn’t they also be removing any reference to the word from their shelves and web sites?

It’s The Messaging Stupid

Predictably, the Cowardly Lions of the Republican controlled House are on the cusp of acquiescing to Obama’s demands for higher taxes on the rich.  Additionally, over the last weeks, a bevy of so-called Conservative pundits — Ann Coulter leading the charge — are urging the House to give into to higher taxes.

Here’s their plan as I see it:

  • Raise taxes
  • Anger all Conservatives
  • Expect Conservatives to vote again for failed Republican representation
  • Let the chips fall when the Obama economy fails
  • Hope the electorate will awaken to the failure of Obama’s economy
  • Republicans will be swept to victory in 2014 and 2016

A little problem happened on the way to reality.  The Obama Economy already failed.  Joblessness, debt, corruption, and strangulating regulations are the by-product of his economic vision and policy.

Barack Obama already presided over, as Ann says, a recovery that was worse than the recession.  Black and youth unemployment is through the roof.  Job creation is anemic with 73% of jobs created in recent months in the government.  And the Labor Force Participation Rate has dropped through the floor to match the economy of Jimmy Carter.

So, when it ‘re-fails’, Ann and her ilk tell us the electorate will suddenly awaken to the failure of Obama’s Economy and sweep in Republicans.  Really?!?!  Who, this time, is going to tell the Obama voter that their Messiah is a failure?  NBC?  ABC?  New York Times?  Washington Post?  CNN, NPR, BBC?  James Carville and Jon Stewart?  Your children’s school?

It already was a failure and they didn’t seem to get the message.  American voters bought the idea that if we just tax the evil rich a little more, the economy will soar… …when all evidence is to the contrary.

(Just like her failed recipe for a 2012 Republican Presidential candidate), following Ann’s plan for the Fiscal Cliff is just another recipe for failure and continued suffering under Democrat Keynesian economics, greater socialism, communism, and collectivism… …all which have failed miserably across Europe and Asia.

Here’s another plan to deal with the fiscal cliff:

  • Refuse to pass any bill that raises taxes
  • Write a bill to:
    • Cut taxes further by 1%
    • Cut all Federal salaries by 10%
    • Raise the retirement age by 5 years for anyone born after 12/31/2014
    • Include Additional Real Solutions
  • Obama is campaigning; start campaigning!  FINALLY… sell the Conservative message
  • Tap all the actors / musicians / celebrities that supported Romney
    • Stacy Dash
    • Kid Rock
    • Jon Voight
    • Daddy Yankee
    • Adam Sandler
    • Mike Rowe
    • Nicki Minaj
    • Paul Rodriguez
  • Create commercials with these celebrities:
    • “Hey kids! It’s time to wake up!”
    • “Obama’s tax increase will raise $82B (if that)”
    • “Obama’s deficit spending is 15 times that much!”
    • “Obama and the Democrats won’t cut real spending; all they want to do is raise taxes”
    • “Obama and Democrats continue to take money from you before you even start to pay taxes?!?!”
    • End all the commercials with the questions or some similar tag lines:
      • “How does it help for the Government to have another $82B?”
      • Guess what.  It doesn’t.”
      • “Do you really want the government to have more of your money?”
      • “Send ’em a Tweet!  Tell ’em ‘Hell No!’
  • Play that commercial on:
    • ABC
    • NBC
    • CBS
    • Comedy Central
    • CNN
    • Radio
    • MTV
    • VH1
    • Cartoon Network
    • Disney Channel
    • PBS
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Angry Birds

…until the cows come home.

It’s the Messaging, Stupid!

And if the evil 2% don’t want to foot the bill to create a messaging campaign, well then, go ahead and write a bill to raise their taxes… …except tax their existing wealth by 10% instead of income.  Apparently, they need a wake-up call too.

Messaging - 01

My concern all along has been that Mitt Romney wouldn’t go to the mat.  And he didn’t.  Tonight’s Vice Presidential debate was his wide open chance to say the absolute worst TRUE things about President Obama and Vice President Biden, and he passed.

Things I would liked for Paul Ryan to say:

  • “You want to talk about trust?  Really?!?! Joe Biden, you fully plagiarized a British man to fake your own story to make yourself sound better when you were running for President.  How can any American possibly trust anything you ever say?  And, you have the nerve to ask America to trust YOU?”
  • Into the camera… …”Mr. Obama, in your book, you said that Frank, who is obviously Frank Marshall Davis, was your mentor.  Frank Marshall Davis, had we gone to war with the USSR in 19??, was such a Communist, would have been immediately ARRESTED and IMPRISONED had a war started with the USSR.”
  • When Biden protests… …”Oh you want to complain that I went back 24 years to talk about your past?  You are happy to talk about what happened with Mitt Romney’s dog 24+ years ago, but your past is off limits?  You want to ignore that your President ATE DOG,”
  • How dare you think you have a right to be Vice President with the possibility of being President.  You are plagiarist, a fake, a fraud.
  • …sometimes the words don’t come out the right way…
    • Your President, Joe Biden, the man you think should lead the next 4 years, said there were 57 states in America
    • Your President, Joe Biden, the man you think should lead the next 4 years, denigrated people saying they cling to their guns and their Bibles with antipathy
  • When Biden brought Sarah Palin into the fold regarding death panels, he absolutely should have said that “you continue to try to put down Sarah Palin for hear ‘death panels’ comment, but she was EXACTLY right.  Go to http://mittromney.com/sarah to see how right she was.” …and of course have a page ready there with he facts.
  • We would ‘like’ to be out of Afghanistan in 2014, however, BHO has made this a ‘date certain’.  We will not make it a ‘date certain’.  We want to be out of there. We want to bomb the Taliban until they never want to exist again.  We will try to be out of there.  But, we will not TELL the Taliban that we’re leaving.  Obama has, and now the Taliban are testing the waters and have killed 50+ of our bravest Americans because they KNOW that America is leaving.

Thoughts in general

  • I thought Biden won at least 51-49
  • Paul Ryan was more reasonable and measured
  • “I know you’re under duress” was his best salvo!

The Cheney-Law

Failing KC and St. Louis schools, faux balanced budgets, MO DOT wasting millions, an SOS that won’t clear the dead from the voters roles, attack after attack on our freedoms by the MO Legislature / Federal Government…

…and our precious legislative session time is being used to argue the Cheney-Law… …about whether to let someone hunt after he accidentally kills one of his hunting mates?!?!

Focus people. Focus!

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri senators have endorsed legislation allowing the Conservation Commission to levy tougher penalties on hunters who accidentally kill someone.

The measure would let the commission impose a 10-year suspension of hunting privileges on anyone who accidently kills another person while hunting. Officials already can suspend hunting privileges for up to five years when someone is injured by a weapon in a hunting accident. Commissioners would decide whether to invoke the penalty.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Dempsey proposed the tougher penalty after the husband of a constituent was killed in a hunting accident.

Fellow Republican Sen. Jason Crowell objected. He pointed out that motorists are not barred from driving after hurting someone else in an accident.

Senator Crowell should object… …to the time that is being wasted on this measure when so many other issues are stunningly more pressing.  I’m sorry for the loss of Senator Dempsey’s constituent, but let’s not run around making new laws after every tragedy.  Accidents will happen!  They are, by definition, accidents.

We cannot legislate common sense or eternal life.
