Real Work Force – 03/31/13

Graph - General - Decreasing - 01

The FedGov released its unemployment propaganda for March 2013 this week showing a 0.1% drop in the unemployment rate.  Our friends at ZeroHedge calculated that the Real Unemployment Rate is now 11.6% instead of the FedGov’s drop from 7.7% to 7.6%.  The actual Labor Force declined by 496,000 and those not in the Labor Force increased by 660,000.

FedGov and ZeroHedge calculations still don’t really show the true picture of employment in America.  They don’t answer this question:

Ignoring all demographics, who is in the wagon versus who is pulling the wagon?

How many people are working as a percent of all the people in the United States?

RWF - 20130331 - Real Work Force - 01

At the end of Clinton’s administration, over 50% of the population in America were in the labor force!  That number stayed mostly the same and then increased through through the early parts of 2007.  That percentage has decreased since the beginning of 2007 and is now down by nearly 2%.  You’re welcome to comment below as to what happened in early 2007 to turn the trend around.

In today’s numbers, that’s a reduction of almost 6,000,000 jobs.

.Below is the percentage of change from month-to-month

Things won’t get better in this country until millions more people are pulling the wagon!

Real Work Force – 02/28/13

Graph - General - Decreasing - 01

Previously, after the release of monthly Unemployment Data by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, I had done a couple of analyses looking at the labor force participation rate — the number of people the FedGov thinks is working versus the number of people that should be working.  After giving some further thought to the issue, it occurred to me that it still didn’t really show the true picture of employment in America.  It did not answer this question:

Ignoring all demographics, who is in the wagon versus who is pulling the wagon?

How many people are working as a percent of all the people in the United States?

Employment v Unemployment – December 2012

The Unemployment Rate is out again today with no change at 7.8% (apparently November 2012 was revised up to 7.8%), but there was an actual uptick in the labor force (155,319,000 up to 155,511,000).  The Labor Force Participation Rate remained unchanged at an anemic 63.6% (down from 65.7% at the start of Obama’s 1st term).

We can be heartened at the fact that another major exit from the work force did not occur.

You Know You Live In A Country Run By Idiots If….

Received via e-mail…

You Know You Live In A Country Run By Idiots If….

…A Muslim Army officer crying “Allah Akbar” while shooting up an army base and killing 13 soldiers is considered to have committed “Workplace Violence” while an American citizen boasting a Ron Paul bumper sticker is classified as a “Domestic Terrorist”.

….You can get arrested for expired tags on your car but not for being in the country illegally.

….Your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more of our money.

….A seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for calling his teacher “cute” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable.

….The Supreme Court of the United States can rule that lower courts cannot display the 10 Commandments in their courtroom, while sitting in front of a display of the 10 Commandments.

….Children are forcibly removed from parents who appropriately discipline them while children of “underprivileged” drug addicts are left to rot in filth infested cesspools.

….Working class Americans pay for their own health care (and the health care of everyone else) while unmarried women are free to have child after child on the “State’s” dime ($six figures) while never being held responsible for their own choices (incentive to breed built into system).

….Hard work and success are rewarded with higher taxes and government intrusion, while slothful, lazy behavior is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid and subsidized housing, and free cell phones.

….The government’s plan for getting people back to work is to provide 99 weeks of unemployment checks (to not work).

….Being self-sufficient is considered a threat to the government.

….Politicians think that stripping away the amendments to the constitution is really protecting the rights of the people.

….The rights of the Government come before the rights of the individual.

….Parents believe the State is responsible for providing for their children.

….You pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor defaults on his mortgage (while buying iPhones, TV’s and new cars) and the government forgives his debt and reduces his mortgage (with your tax dollars).

….Your government can add anything they want to your kid’s water (fluoride, chlorine, etc.) but you are not allowed to give them raw milk.

….Being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you “safe”.

….You have to have your parents signature to go on a school field trip but not to get an abortion.

….An 80 year old woman can be strip searched by the TSA but a Muslim woman in a burka is only subject to having her neck and head searched.

Employment v Unemployment – Nov 2012

With another 350,000 leaving the work force, the useless figure called the unemployment rate ticked down again in November 2012 to 7.7%.  Previous months, however, were also revised downward, and we can expect the same for the current month.  Problems?

For instance, labor force participation fell sharply. Indeed, the sole reason for a decline in the unemployment rate was a drop of 350,000 in the number of people in the labor force.

So, why even pay attention to the Unemployment Rate.  There is only one graph that really matters and shows a much more true picture of the Employment situation in the U.S. — The Labor Force Participation Rate:

Compliments of the Obama Stimulus, Auto Bailout, Recovery Summer, TARP, Cash For Clunkers, EPA, High Gas Prices and every other constraint the Obama Administration has put on our economy, the Labor Force Participation rate has fallen off the cliff and continues to decline:

Employment v Unemployment 20121130 - 01

Obama’s Labor Force Participation Rate is the lowest since Jimmy Carter’s 63% rates — another complete failure as a jobs president.

Yes, I would gladly go back to the Clinton Era 67% Employment Rates, 18% of GDP Spending Rates, and his reduction to 15% in the Capital Gains Tax Rate… …and if we didn’t increase to Clinton’s 39% Income Tax Rate, his figures would be even better!

708,000 More Unemployed In January = Dip In Unemployment Rate?

When I see BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics), why do I think BLS = Bulls**t?

This week, the Obama apologists in the Main Stream Media trumpeted the BLS report that the Unemployment Rate dipped to 8.3%.

Then, the new/real media (bloggers and Santelli ) started looking into the numbers and wondering why 1.2 Million Americans suddenly dropped out of the labor force.  Check here and here and here.

The bottom line is the answer to the question, “How many people are unemployed?”  And, in the Bureau of Labor Statistics own figures, you can find pretty easily (if you believe this number) that the number of Unemployed went UP by 708,000.

h/t bls.gov

As far as the masseuses and contortionists that converted an increase of 708,000 in unemployed Americans to a dip in the Unemployment Rate, “These are not the droids you are looking for.”

Obama: A Danger To America

When in conflict, one who purposely reduces the amount of resources necessary to resolve the conflict is a danger to your position in the conflict.

If you’re stranded on an Irish island and growing potatoes to survive, someone who wouldn’t let you dig up the potatoes would be a danger to your survival… …especially if the reason was ‘eating potatoes’ gives off ribosomes that might harm the Earth 500 innovation-filled years from now.

That person is a danger to your survival.

h/t newsbiscuit.com

And, that is exactly what President Barack Hussein Obama is to America.  Over the 3 years of his administration, as Terrorist Islam has spread like locusts over the Middle East, the President continues to increase our dependency on the same Middle East to provide us oil.

Every step of the way, Obama and is radical environmentalists have fought to enslave the American citizen to the whims of Eurasian despots, dictators, and Islamic fundamentalists in their opposition to developing American Energy sources like Oil, Natural Gas, Coal and Nuclear.

Liberals and Democrats, are you really telling me that you’re going to continue to support the man that takes away your shovels when you need to dig up potatoes to survive?!?!

It’s time to call him what he is — A Danger to America.

From the Gulf Of Mexico to the Virginia Coast to the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge to the Keystone Pipeline, the Obama Administration and its radicals have prevented America from becoming energy self-sufficient.  Billions of hours of labor and trillions of American Dollars are being handed over to the likes of Ahmadinejad, the Saudis (home of Wahhabism and 15 of the 19 9/11 terrorists), and the Muslim Brotherhood (who can’t wait for Iran to Nuke-Up and drop their wares on Israel)… …all in the name of protecting the environment.  Where on Earth is a more responsible place than America to develop Oil, Natural Gas, Coal and Nuclear?!?!  Where?!

So, when Iran closes the Straits of Hormuz, America goes to war, gasoline and oil inventories plummet, gasoline prices spike, GDP drops, and you lose your job… …be sure to thank Barack Obama and his radical environmentalists.  Also, be sure to thank all the people (Democrat, Independent, and Republican) who ignored their own values and mores to vote for a radical environmentalist abortionist Marxist… …because he is black.

Ask yourself, on energy, has he made America more safe?

315K Give Up Job Search

That’s the real headline from today’s unemployment report, but Mainstream Media is glorifying the news that the 315K that have given up looking for work causes the unemployment rate to go from 8.9% to 8.6%.

On the good news side, there were a net 120K jobs created in November, but it’s Christmastime.  Additionally, August and September job numbers were revised upwards.

But this news fizzles when the monthly job creation needed to keep up with population growth are 125K per month.

h/t worch.com

Let’s take a look at employment numbers comparing Bush’s two terms, 9/11, the advent of the Democrat Congress, and Obama’s first term.

A liberal would explain that the high employment rate of Bush years was a result of the policies of Bill Clinton, and the low employment rate of the Obama years is a result of the Bush policies.

I have always posed that the economy tanked largely when it became apparent that the Democrats had taken over Congress and were going to get the Presidency as well.  Business planners knew the high tax, high spending, regulation fiasco was on the horizon.

When it becomes apparent that Republicans Conservatives will re-take the Senate and the Presidency, watch for the economy to start soaring again.

Unemployment Benefits Stimulate The Economy — Not So Much

The knee-jerk and common sense reaction — to Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat’s claim that Unemployment Payments stimulate the economy — is, correctly, to roll your eyes and assert that it is nothing more than a politically motivated claim.

h/t cascadepolicy.org

A few short years ago, in 2004-2005, the Democrats were complaining about how bad the situation was for the unemployed under President Bush when the Unemployment Rate was 4% – 5% — not the 9% – 10% under the Obama regime.  That visit to the history books alone answers the question as to whether or not the claim of its stimulative affect is ideologically motivated.

But, alas, a good Conservative / Tea Partier wants the facts, and here are a slew of them from the Cascade Policy Institute — Oregon’s Premier Policy Think Tank.

Here’s the scoop on the stimulative negative affect of Unemployment Insurance.

Another Employment Measure

Last week, the Federal Government announced the Unemployment Rate of 8.8% for March with 216,000 new jobs.  My question is always related to how many people quit looking for a job or fell off the Unemployment roles.  We all know that the true Unemployment Rate is much higher in the 15-17% range.

This month, my curiosity about the real picture of Employment focused on the number of employed.  I planned to visit the Bureau Of Labor Statistics site to gather the information, but lo-and-behold, the folks at Gregor.us had already built the chart:

US Employment in Millions (h/t Gregor.us)

Below is the same Bureau Of Labor Statistics data with Percentage Change in Employment (YoY):

A few dates are highlighted above:

  • January 2007 – Democrats took over the Congress
  • October 2008 – TARP signed into law
  • January 2009 – Obama was inaugurated

You can glean what you want from this data — certainly the recent increase in the number of employed — but the Year-Over-Year (YoY) increase in employment during the Bush years really stands out!
