Fairtax / Income Tax / Jason Smith

John McMillen, of Sikeston, MO, posted the following to Jason Smith’s Facebook timeline.  It’s GREAT stuff!FairTax-AnotherDay[1]

The American system of private property ownership is the most important guaranty of freedom. This was the corner stone on which our founders built our “Bill of Rights” and our “Constitution.”

When personal property rights are respected, honored, and preserved, not only is it a guarantor of Freedom to those who own property, but also for those who do not. Each person is free to move from place to place for a better opportunity, and with no government confiscation of the wealth when individuals are free to produce, more real opportunities are created by the success of others. This principle applies right down to a person’s paycheck.

The best way for government to put more money in people’s wallets is for government to leave it there in the first place. This devilish system developed in America using the IRS INCOME TAX as the Mother Ship of Socialism has brought America’s economy and societal morays to its knees.

A good model to observe was adopted in a land of total communist rule by the Soviets in the late 1980s. It is a good example of evidence as to the original American system’s effects for increased production and industriousness voluntarily exercised among the people, without government coercion.

In that example under ‘Perestroika’ (Restructuring) and ‘Glasnost’ (Transparency) Russian citizens were allowed to keep the wealth they created by raising vegetables on their own garden plots to sell and trade however they wished, and were allowed to keep 100% of the proceeds. Although these individual garden plots composed only about 2% of the agricultural lands in the Soviet Union, they produced 25% of the food!

When Soviets kept the wealth they pe rsonally created individually, they produced almost 16 times more than when it was forced from them by government order (taxation) at gunpoint!

The Fairtax Bill HR-25 is available now with 65 cosponsors. 3 of Missouri’s U.S. Representatives are cosponsors of this Bill. Jason, I hope you will study this bill closely and consider becoming a cosponsor as well. I hope you will seek council with Rob Woodall, Georgia, Sponsor of HR-25, and Ann Wagoner who just signed on as cosponsor last week for their insights.

5 Miles for Proposition “C”

On July 3rd, Michelle Moore and I decided to do ‘something’ in the O’Fallon, Missouri parade.  We thought we would be walking for our friend Dave Evans who is running for State Representative in the 19th District.  But as we walked about 2 miles from the midpoint of the parade to where (we were told) Dave was starting from, we instead found Judy Sofka and Annette Read — two great patriots in the St. Louis area!  Never did see Dave.

We chatted with them for a while, and we met Casey (I think) who is a teacher and great patriot fighting the battle against Obama’s Race To The Top (Race to the Trough) takeover of the public school system.  We soon realized that Judy and Annette were all by their lonesome and decided to join them for the parade.

We took turns carrying the sign that Jay Harris had helped create and passed out over 1000 fliers telling about Proposition C / Healthcare Freedom Act.  Having marched in parades as a saxophone player and cub scout troop member, this was the most fun I’ve had in a parade to date.  We calculated that our total walk for the morning was about 5 miles.

More information available at the Missourians For Healthcare Freedom web site.

We were asked not to hand out fliers, so I just hawked them loudly and handed them to folks who requested them.  I heard one woman sitting in her chair protest, “We don’t need that.”  We laughed sadly at her ignorance and prayed that the voters in Missouri would choose freedom.

Afternoon nap required!

Maximus Freedomus

In the beginning there was God, and God created Man and Woman… …and gave them Free Will.  Or, if you don’t believe in God, in the beginning, there was nothing, which magically exploded and created man… …who has Free Will.  And for all the centuries of recorded history, men and women have struggled to be free.  The slaves of the Pharaohs, the Jews in the concentration camps, the slaves in America, the slaves of Islam.  Man struggles to be free and exercise his free will.

Along comes the U.S.A., the American Experiment, a country ruled by free people, with great freedoms to excel in a free market… …and in 200 short years, an astounding growth in richness and wealth is felt throughout the globe.  Led by the U.S.A, their free people, their freedom, and their free market, the world explodes with technology and health.

Two Maxims are that Government is a necessary evil and that Government takes away freedoms.  And, in the past 100 years, the Progressive cancer is slowly eroding our freedoms.  The Income Tax along with the exponential growth of the Federal Government has eroded our ability to enjoy the fruits of our labors.  The ever-growing level of regulation stifles our entrepreneurs and small businesses with rules and regulations.  And, the entitlement culture generating a massive Federal debt robs our future generations of liberty.

As the Federal government continues to grow, they tell the unwashed ‘small’ people that they are the experts and will tell us how to live, what light bulbs to buy, what washers to buy, how to get health care, how to run the banks, how to build a car, and how to generate power.  Progressives love to cite their experts and build regulations to force their agenda on the people.

Each regulation, each rule, each law, each hour you work to pay taxes, each program, each entitlement, each earmark takes away a little bit of your freedom, and the great American experiment teeters on the edge of tyranny.

The only solution is to reduce the Government intrusion and return the maximum of the three F’s to the people:  Freedom, Free Will, Free Market.
